What do these activities have in common:
Bubble Making, Autumn Leaves, Fire Safety, a Picnic and the return of a dear Friend?
You guessed it--- The Bear Cub's Week!!!

Making bubbles seems so easy to adults, but for children there are lots of steps and ideas to be fascinated by! First the child must take the experiment from the shelf and get it set up. Now fill the pitcher with water and carry it between the sink and the table without spilling... Carefully pour into the beautiful bowl that looks like glass (it isn't, but we'll never tell!) Put in a squirt of soap...It's all part of the process. Now how do I hold this beater and turn it at the same time? This takes lots of coordination!
I really have to concentrate and stay focused...
I am making bubbles! Hmmm... What shape are they? What colors do I see? How do I make even more?
This is fun--- but I remember that it can be hard for friends to wait for a turn.
This is definitely worth the wait!
What happens if I turn this crank faster? Will the bubbles pop?
I love Science!
When my arm is s-o-o tired that I can't turn the beater anymore, it's time to get everything cleaned up for the next person. I want the bubble making to be as fresh for my friend as it was for me!
Meanwhile, we're celebrating Autumn with our collage materials, such as good smelling cedar sticks, crinkly brown paper, colored leaves, bits of yarn and feathers. We enjoy all the textures!

Our light table has an assortment of autumn discoveries from Mother Nature. Many of the items are gifts of the trees. We are learning more about trees every day!
We made our own autumn leaves this week with absorbent paper and liquid watercolors.

Afterward, we hung them in our front windows... We hope that you'll notice their colorful beauty, especially when the light shines through them!
Our Creation Station inspires big ideas to be expressed through the imaginative building process integrated with fine motor skill development, oral and written language.
Our study of fire safety is reflected in activities throughout our classroom, such as
puzzles,
role playing, books and storytelling, as well as group discussions and practice.
On Wednesday, Firefighter Joe Minake came to visit the Superstars. We were invited to join in and show him some of the things we have learned...
such as Stop, Drop and Roll (make sure to cover the face!),

and crawl low under smoke (there's more air down there!)
We look forward to maybe seeing Firefighter Minake again when the fire truck comes to Seabury in a couple of weeks!

Wow! It always amazes me how full the days are for our children. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful educational environment to stimulate Ella's mind and heart! Thank you!
